Aids easy removal of ear wax with a dual action.

The ear canal contains glands that produce a waxy secretion called cerumen (ear wax). Ear wax is a helpful and natural part of your body's defences. The purpose of ear wax is to protect the ear. Ear wax lubricates the lining of the ear canal, traps dirt and repels water. The ear canal has a self-cleaning action that is constantly moving ear wax towards the outer ear. Regular jaw movements, like talking and chewing, also help to move the wax out of the ear canal.

 Ear Wax build-up

When the natural removal of ear wax is hampered, ear wax may become compacted into a hard mass. When ear wax builds up it may cause hearing loss, pain, dizziness and a sensation of fullness in the ear. Some people are more prone to ear wax build-up than others. For example, this can be due to a narrow ear canal, a large amount of hair in the ear canal, use of ear phones, ear plugs or hearing aids, or simply and over production of wax. Using cotton buds or other items to remove ear wax can cause more harm than good. When placed into the ear canal they may push wax deeper into the ear making it more difficult to remove.

Treatment of Ear Wax Buildup

Ear Clea Ear Wax Remover contains carbamide peroxide. Carbamide peroxide on contact with the ear wax releases oxygen and the mechanical effect of effervescence helps to break up and disperse the wax. It not only softens hardened ear wax, it also loosens it for easy removal. The ear wax will usually come out by itself and may avoid the need for syringing or other medical treatment.

Tilt the head to one side and place five to ten drops in the ear. Keep the head tilted for several minutes. Cotton wool may be used to help keep the drops in the ear. Turn to the other side and repeat for the other ear. Note that the drops may effervesce on contact with the ear wax due to release of oxygen. This can sometimes, but not always, be heard in the ear. Ear Clear Wax Remover should be used twice daily for a maximum of 4 days, or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The ear wax will usually come out on its own.

Do not use if the ear drum is perforated or discharge is present. Do not use if there is pain or dizziness or if ear surgery has been performed within the past six weeks. It is not recommended for the treatment of pain or raw inflamed tissue, swimmer's ear or itching of the ear canal. Use in children under 12 years of age only on the advice of your doctor or pharmacist. Avoid contact with the eyes or naked flame. If pain or irritation occurs, or if the condition persists, consult your Doctor.
